What Marginalia does
Marginalia is built around one loop: subscribe, read, highlight and note, write a journal entry, then export or back it up.
A reader for your feeds
Add a feed by its web address or its feed address. Marginalia reads RSS, Atom and JSON Feed, groups feeds into folders, and moves your subscriptions in or out with OPML. When a feed carries only a summary, turn on "Load full articles" for it and Marginalia fetches the whole article.
Highlights and notes
Select text to highlight it in yellow, blue or rose, and attach a note to any highlight. You can also write a note on the whole article.
A reading journal
Each article can have one journal entry that collects its highlights and notes, with room for your own reflection. Browse entries by date and search across everything you have written.
Markdown export and backup
Export entries as Markdown files with front matter into a folder you pick once, such as an Obsidian vault. Back up the whole library to a single file and restore it later.
Save a page, read offline
Save any web page from the share sheet and read it in the same clean reader. Starred and annotated articles are kept on your iPhone with their images, and you can choose what else to download.
Made for reading
Marginalia has a clean reader, adjustable text and a light and a dark appearance. The app is in English.
No account, no tracking
No account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your feeds, highlights and journal stay on your iPhone. Marginalia connects only to the websites you add or open, never to us. Read the privacy policy.
Requirements
iPhone with iOS 16 or later. English. Free, with a one-time Pro unlock planned. An Android version is planned.
